Education [Tim Schwierjohn / Justen Patterson/ Dave Pini]

Recommend moving 9 hole event from Aug to June – possibly Highlands Golf and Tennis. Play 2 loops around with first 9 alternate shot and second 9 scramble.

August event possibly at bowling alley!

September event yet to be scheduled, waiting on reply from Tim Allen.

Scheduling for host events already underway for 2018!

Discussion of donation to PGA Norwood event – July 2017 – $500

Discussion of Hospitality Night 2017 at Orlando. Also discussed future of co-hosting with HAGCSA. Appears HA may be unwilling to share total expenses of Orlando Hospitality. Total bill has been sent to HA. Will see how much they decide to remit.

Further discussion about larger number of attendees at this function, limits the selection of venues that can accommodate this crowd of 150+. With just MVGCSA, we should be able to have more options on venues, reduce overhead and create a more personal atmosphere. Motion was made by Justen Patterson and second by Rob Kick to end joint Hospitality Night with HAGCSA. Motion passed! Mike Null to contact President of HAGCSA.

Research [Rob Schaff / Rob Kick]

Green Cup set at Algonquin GC – Monday, October 16, 2017. Conflict with Mike Hartman’s event. We will go forward with scheduled Green Cup on this date.

New applications,

  • Chad Gamble – DryJect (AFF)

  • Doc Vit – Midwest Turf (AFF)

  • Tracy Flemming – Solitude Lake Management (AFF)

Also discussed possible addition of an interactive forum through our website for all members to exchange ideas and chat.

Membership Outreach [Jim Buford]

Follow up with Paul Hurst and Mike Carron – they do not want any special remittance for their work with the Gateway Green. Remain status quo.

Discussion of donation to PGA Norwood event – July 2017 – $500. Motion by Tim Roethler second by Dave Pini – motion passed.

Discussion of member vs. non-member fees at scheduled events. Decided that a fee equal to 1.5 times the member fee would be appropriate for non-members. Events fee’s will be handled on an event by event basis.

Roger Null Internship Program was discussed and tabled for now. Need more refinement from Curt Rohe.

Discussion of the HAGCSA/Wee One Melchior benefit golf event. Dave Klinkhammer participated in discussion. Motion made by Dave Pini to donate $1,500 for Platinum level sponsor. Motion failed to receive a second so the motion failed. Further discussion resulted in decision to enter a 4-player team in the event @ $500. Motion by Tim Roethler second by Justen Patterson motion passed. Potential team to include Kick, Roethler, Pini and Klinkhammer.

At upcoming April BOD meeting, a decision will be made whether or not to make a donation directly to the Melchior family.

Discussion of recent changes made to the Rules of Golf by the USGA and R&A. Discussed that this topic may be a good idea for future speaker/education.
