East Course Assistant Superintendent

Founded in 1922, Norwood Hills Country Club is one of the premier, and historic private clubs in
the St. Louis area. The Wayne Stiles designed course features 36 holes with Bentgrass greens,
as well as unique Zoysia fairways and tees. Norwood Hills was home to the 1948 PGA
Championship won by Ben Hogan as well as countless other championship events including the
2018 U.S. Women's Mid-Am Championship. The club will also continue to host the Ascension
Charity Classic, a PGA Champions Tour event which began in September 2020.

Norwood Hills has a history of promoting from within; our two current Superintendents began as
Assistant Superintendents. Norwood Hills is searching for a self-motivated individual to take on the role of Assistant
Superintendent. The employee will work closely with the East Course Superintendent as well as
other Superintendents to provide the best golf experience for members.
Job Duties:
The East Course Assistant Superintendent will report directly to the East Course Superintendent
and fill in when the Superintendent is absent, some of the duties included but not limited to:
General Course Maintenance
Chemical/Fertilizer Applications
Irrigation Repair
Supervising and Scheduling Staff
Training Staff on Equipment
Ability to Work 40+ Hours during Summer Months
Snow Removal
Good Communication Skills
Highly Organized
Knowledge of the Game
Experience/Requirements:
2-4 year Turf/Agronomy/Horticulture Degree (Preferred/Not Required)
1 year Experience of Golf Course Maintenance (Preferred/Not Required)
Possess a Valid Driver's License
Ability to Obtain a State Pesticide Applicator License
Working Knowledge of Basic Golf Course Practices including: Course setup, Bentgrass
greens, Zoysia fairways, Ornamental trees and shrubs, Irrigation and Drainage control,
Pest/Weed and Turfgrass Identification
Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel
Attend Educational Seminars to Keep up with Current Practices
