Golf Course Superintendent- The Bridges GC

Columbia Golf Club, a 36 hole daily fee facility, is seeking a golf course superintendent to oversee the daily operation of our Bridges course. This individual will report to the Director of Agronomy. Essential duties may include but are not limited to:

1. Supervise maintenance staff as required.

2. Works with the Director of Agronomy on the agronomic plans.

3. Determines work procedures, prepares schedules, expedites workflows, and studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency.

4. Oversees the operation and repair of the irrigation system in coordination with the Director of Agronomy.

5. Manages and supervises assigned operations. Trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff, reviews progress and directs changes as needed.

6. Oversees the operation of all equipment and trains operators as needed to improve performance and efficiency.


Qualifications

1. Associates or Bachelors degree in Agronomy, Turf grass management or related disciplines and 2-4 years of golf course maintenance experience in a progressing leadership position OR any combination of education and experience sufficient to perform duties of the position. 1-2 years of supervisory experience in golf course maintenance operations is required.

2. A current Illinois or state issue pesticide license is required and a 90 grace period to obtain an Illinois license should your current license be from another state.

3. Working knowledge of the following: soils and turf, pesticide knowledge, irrigation operation and repair, equipment operation and basic maintenance, first aid and safety precautions, personal computers including basic work and excel software.

4. Ability to: work independently and complete daily activities according to schedules, communicate effectively in oral and written settings, meet deadlines, work with both internal and external customers, operate tools and equipment properly and safely.
