    Persimmon Woods Golf Club is looking for a Second Assistant Superintendent to join our agronomy team.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working on the golf course, wants to continue learning, and is looking to build a career in golf course management. 

    Position Details

    • Position: Second Assistant Superintendent
    • Employment Type: Full-Time
    • Pay: $23–$27 per hour, depending on experience
    • Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent
    • Education: Turfgrass education or related experience 

    About the Position

    The Second Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent on the day-to-day maintenance of the golf course.

    Some of the responsibilities will include:

    • Helping plan and organizing daily maintenance activities.
    • Supervising and working alongside the maintenance staff
    • Mowing and maintaining greens, tees, fairways, rough, and other playing areas
    • Assisting with irrigation and troubleshooting
    • Fertilizer and chemical applications
    • Golf course setup.
    • Helping with renovation and improvement projects
    • Training and working with seasonal and full-time staff.
    • Helping maintain a safe and positive work environment

      Position Summary

      Forest Hills Country Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Assistant  Golf Course Superintendent to join our Golf Course Maintenance Department. This position reports directly to the Director of Agronomy and serves as a key leader within the maintenance operation. The Lead Superintendent is responsible for coordinating daily maintenance activities, supervising crew members, and ensuring the golf course is maintained to the highest standards.

      This hands-on leadership role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for golf course management. The successful candidate will assist in planning daily operations, training staff, monitoring course conditions, and executing agronomic and improvement projects while promoting a safe and productive work environment.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Lead and supervise daily golf course maintenance operations and crew assignments.
      • Assist the Director of Agronomy with planning, scheduling, and prioritizing maintenance activities.
      • Train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance staff while promoting teamwork and accountability.
      • Monitor turfgrass health and assist with fertility, irrigation, and integrated pest management programs.
      • Assist with irrigation system scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs.
      • Ensure the golf course is properly prepared for daily play, tournaments, outings, and special events.
      • Operate and maintain golf course equipment as needed.
      • Assist with construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
      • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, chemical applications, and regulatory compliance.
    • Work closely with Director of Agronomy to develop annual operating and capital budgets.
    • Assist with developing annual chemical and fertilizer programs.
    • Serve as acting supervisor in the absence of the Director of Agronomy.

    Qualifications

    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field preferred.
    • Three or more years of golf course maintenance experience, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
    • Knowledge of turfgrass management practices, irrigation systems, and golf course equipment.
    • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to obtain or maintain a state pesticide applicator license.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
