    Assistant Golf Course/Range Superintendent

    Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent

    Direct Reports: Assigned Grounds Crew, Range Staff as directed

    Job Overview

    The Assistant Golf Course/Range Superintendent supports the Superintendent in managing the maintenance and care of the golf course, driving range, range tees, and landscaped areas. This position assists in scheduling, training, and supervising maintenance staff while ensuring high-quality playing conditions and a safe, efficient, and well-maintained facility.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Assist in the hiring, training, and daily supervision of maintenance and range staff.

    • Assist scheduling of outside maintenance staff - range and course labor.

    • Support the Superintendent in implementing turfgrass management programs for greens, tees, fairways, and range areas.

    • Execute daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance schedules for mowing, irrigation, fertilization, and equipment care.

    • Monitor turf conditions, irrigation performance, and overall course presentation; report issues promptly to the Superintendent.

    • Assist in maintaining all equipment and tools used in golf course and range operations; perform minor mechanical repairs as needed.

    • Help ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations for all staff.

    • Participate in fertilizer and pesticide applications as directed; maintain proper records in accordance with state regulations.

    • Assist in managing the range ball inventory and ensure that range operations (picking, cleaning, and stocking) are completed efficiently.

    • Support the Superintendent in maintaining facility appearance, including landscaping, parking areas, and snow removal when necessary.

    • Maintain a professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude when interacting with staff, members, and guests.

    • Serve as acting Superintendent in the Superintendent’s absence.

    Qualifications

    • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field – Preferred

    • 1–2 years of golf course or turf maintenance experience – Required

    • Working knowledge of irrigation systems, turf equipment, and basic mechanical skills – Required

    • Missouri Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within 90 days) – Required

    • Strong communication and leadership skills

    • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and early mornings as needed

    • GCSAA membership – Preferred

    Assistant Superintendent


    Bogey Hills Country Club was established in 1962 and is located in St. Charles, MO. The golf course agronomy team cares for 100 acres consisting of both warm and cool season turfgrasses. There are unlimited opportunities to learn and grow as an individual who wants progression in the golf course maintenance industry.     Qualifications:

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide the club with exceptional playing conditions with attention to detail.
    • Report directly to Golf Course Superintendent, assist with daily operations and planning. Communicate with the golf shop as needed.
    • Assist with short term and long term projects planning, equipment purchasing and budgeting
    • Supervise and manage staff to promote safety and efficiency.
    • Water management including adjusting and setting irrigation programs on toro lynx system and monitoring greens with TDR.
    • Chemical management including pesticide and fertilizer programs, supervising, calibrating and/or operating appropriate equipment.
    • Irrigation management including maintenance, operation and repairs of the pump station, satellites, heads, etc.

    Compensation:

    • $55,000-$65,000 salary per year based on experience and education

    Golf Course Irrigation Technician Assistant

    General Purpose: Maintains the equipment, aids in agronomy staff management, operator/safety training, and ensures that the equipment is maintained to high standards.   

    Essential Duties: 

    • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of all golf course equipment including mowers, tractors, carts, specialty equipment, and other tools
    • Develop and implement regular maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and longevity of all equipment
    • Consistently provide a high quality of cut across the golf course to aid in exceptional playing surfaces.
    • Maintain accurate record of equipment repairs, usage and maintenance schedules.
    • Manage the daily operations of the shop, including inventory control and ordering of supplies and parts
    • Coordinate with Management to ensure equipment and supplies are available for daily operations.
    • Assist in budgeting and purchasing decisions related to equipment and the shop with the Superintendent.

    Education: Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Experience: Minimum of 3 years in equipment management, shop management or related field (golf course maintenance preferred)

    Technical skills: Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with experience in servicing/repairing golf course equipment, small engines, and vehicles

    Certificates/Licenses: Valid Driver’s License

    Communication skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with staff, golfers, and vendors.

    Organizational skills: Must be able to multi task, prioritize, and have strong attention to detail

    Position Overview

    What You’ll Do

    Renovation & Project Support

    Water Management & Irrigation

    ● Monitor and manage course moisture levels using meters, weather data, and hand-watering

    ● Assist in troubleshooting and operating Toro irrigation systems

    ● Coordinate closely with the Irrigation Tech to maintain consistent system performance


    Agronomy & Turf Health

    ● Scout for turf issues and contribute to pest and disease management strategies

    ● Apply fertilizer and pesticide treatments using GPS-guided sprayers and maintaindetailed records

    ● Participate in the development and implementation of seasonal agronomic plans


    Facility & Equipment Oversight

    ● Ensure proper use and maintenance of turf equipment and tools
